Ramakrishnan hails from one of the most prestigious percussion families of South India. The nephew of Shri T. H. Vikku Vinayakram, he received his early training at his grand father”s Shri J. R. Hari Hara Sharma percussion academy in Chennai. He had intensive training on mrindangam under the tutelage of his uncle Vikku Vinayakram and T. H. Subhash Chandran, and has been performing on the concert stage since the age of sixteen, accompanying the great Carnatic musicians of our day and appearing in many noted percussion ensembles both in India and abroad. He is the recipient of the title called “MUZHAVISAI MANI”, “PALGHAT MANI IYER”S MEMORIAL AWARD” and HENRY AWARD. Now he is in “B” high grade in ALL INDIA RADIO.’
